Donaher’s ‘Stay Up’ delicately balances the thrill and vulnerability of wanting to transform a friendship into something more. The power pop track maintains its vigor across three radio-friendly minutes, distinguished by harmonies that hit in all the right places. Musically, the vibe is Motion City Soundtrack meets early Weezer, but the lyrical blend of hopefulness and insecurity makes the song distinctly Donaher.

Opening with a line that calls back to ‘Webster Street’ - a standout from their debut, ‘I Swear My Love Is True’ - ‘Stay Up’ weaves a thread of continuity through Donaher’s discography. Despite the quality of the band’s back catalog and live sets as regional support for genre icons like Smoking Popes and Piebald, Donaher remains somewhat of an unsung hero in the scene.
